How often should I send my gauge in for calibration?

Calibration intervals for gauge recertification are ultimately determined by the customer. While many companies send their gauges in for annual certification, the frequency should be based on your internal quality guidelines and policies.

Four primary factors that should influence the decision are:

  • How frequently the gauge is being used
  • The physical condition of the gauge
  • The application being measured
  • Environment, storage and handling practices
We recommend customers establish certification intervals based upon their own experience and work environment. A gauge used frequently, in a harsh environment may require a shorter certification interval than a gauge used less frequently and handled with care.

Based on our product knowledge, historical data and customer feedback, a one year calibration interval from the date of calibration, date of purchase, or date of receipt is a typical starting point.
